Accreditation: 2011 Paralympic World Cup

The accreditation process for the 2011 Paralympic World Cup is now open.

The event is the largest annual multi-sport competition for elite athletes with a disability and the competition will once again take place at the Manchester Regional Arena and the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Wheelchair basketball will see men’s teams from GB, France, Canada and Brazil and women’s teams from GB, Canada, Japan and Germany, competing at the Regional Arena from May 23-26, in a round robin tournament.

Athletics will take place at the Regional Arena on Friday May 27.

The swimming competition takes place on Saturday May 28, during Channel 4’s live broadcast coverage of the event.

Two international matches are also being staged during the World Cup: sitting volleyball at the Manchester Regional Arena on Wednesday May 25 and boccia at the same venue on Thursday May 26.

LETTER OF AUTHENTICATION

All international media applying for accreditation will require a letter of authentication from their National Paralympic Committee to verify their status as a journalist or photographer with an interest in elite disability sport. Your National Paralympic Committee has been notified of this procedure.

ACCREDITATION PROCESS AND TIMELINES

Applications for media accreditation must be made exclusively using the appropriate form, obtainable from kate.silvers@fasttrackagency.com. A Letter of Authentication must also be included in order for your application to be processed. Please return all applications by mail to:

Once the media accreditation application form and letter of authentication have been received, your application will be processed and confirmation of acceptance will be sent out by email. Please note media accreditation will not be issued via post but will be available for collection in person from the Media Accreditation Point, Manchester Regional Arena, Sportcity, Rowsley Street, Manchester, M11 3FF from Monday May 23.

Please note: The event organisers will not assist in arranging visas for visiting journalists and photographers.

ACCOMMODATION

MEDIA SERVICES

All media accreditation will need to be collected from the Media Accreditation Point at the Manchester Regional Arena.

On Saturday May 28, media accreditation can be collected inside the Manchester Aquatics Centre and a full operating Media Centre will be located on Floor 1.

An event specific Media Area will be available at each venue to provide access to results, information and light refreshments.

Free wireless internet access will be available to accredited media and press tribunes and communication systems will also be available (for more information please see the Telecommunications section listed below).

A representative from the BT Paralympic World Cup Media Team will be available to answer queries on the day.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

A limited number of external phone lines will be available for use by the Media at both the main Media Operations Centre and in the event specific media areas. Free wireless internet access will be available at the event venues to accredited media.

TELEVISION

Channel 4 is the host broadcaster and will be broadcasting live from the Manchester Aquatics Centre from 12:00-14:00 on Monday May 31, as well as live streaming on their website from 13:00-1600 on from May 25-27. A one-hour highlights package will also be shown on Channel4 at 12:00 on Thursday May 26 and Friday May 27.
