Help us to help St Bride’s plan for 2012

By Barry Newcombe, Chairman, SJA
The SJA has held talks with the Rector and senior officers at St Bride’s, the journalists’ church in Fleet Street, on what the church might be able to offer during the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

St Bride’s wants to co-ordinate a programme of activities specifically aimed at journalists visiting London during the Olympics and Paralympics to help them feel welcome and at home.

As a first step we are asking SJA members to complete a brief questionnaire and return it to St.Bride’s.

1, Would you value a social programme in 2012? If yes, please give examples of what you consider would be required.

2, Would you value a social programme in 2012?

3, If you were working at the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, was any spiritual support provided?

4, Did Beijing lack practical resources which you would have appreciated? If yes, please give examples.

5, Were there any aspects of your visit to China which you feel should be replicated at London 2012?

6, Would you value the presence of, for instance, a prayer room or a dedicated chaplain in 2012?

7, We welcome any further comments or suggestions you may have on this topic.
