Jonathan Jobson, the sports editor of the Sunday Herald in Glasgow, is taking voluntary redundancy from the paper.
Jobson is the latest long-standing staffer to leave the Newsquest-owned title, having been with the paper since its launch in 1999.
His departure comes just a matter of weeks after it was announced that the paper’s long-standing football correspondent, Michael Grant, was leaving to join The Times.
Jobson says he does not yet have any plans for his future career.
“So 16 years and three months after joining the launch team of the Sunday Herald, I have finally decided to take the plunge and accept a voluntary redundancy deal,” Jobson announced on social media.
“Amazing time here and a privilege to work with so many fine journalists down the years. Thank you all, but especially Richard Walker, the finest and bravest editor I’ve worked with, and, of course, my ever able deputy and right-hand woman Candy, who will now have … just as much work to do as before.”
