The “Parkinson Show” returns – online

The SJA’s President, Sir Michael Parkinson, is making a surprise return to broadcasting with the launch of an exclusive online radio show on his website.

Parkinson will launch My Life in Music on his website, www.michaelparkinson.tv, from noon on Sunday, reflecting on his broadcasting career and discussing his first compilation album.

Parkinson, 73, said he was “delighted to be returning to the radio arena” to talk about “all the greats” on his album, also called My Life in Music.

The album is the first of a possible multi-album deal that Sir Michael’s production company, Parkinson Productions, has struck with Reprise Records, the label set up by Warner Music for Parkinson’s favourite singer, Frank Sinatra.

His album consists of three Sinatra songs as well as recordings by artists including Van Morrison, Dionne Warwick, Michael Buble, Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Carly Simon and Elton John.

Alongside his 36-year TV career as an interviewer for eponymous BBC and ITV shows – a format that has endured since Parkinson launched on BBC1 in 1971 – he has also enjoyed success in radio.
