Changes at UK Sport communications dept

From Tim Hollingsworth, UK Sport
Within UK Sport we have recently carried out a review of our responsibilities and functions, to make sure we are best placed to deliver for 2012 and using our resources to maximum effect. What this highlighted is the need for a communications role dedicated to how UK Sport communicates with national governing bodies and our other sporting body partners. This is so we make the most of Mission 2012 and the performance solutions that underpin it for sports.

So I have created a new role internally – of Performance Partnerships Manager – and I am delighted that it will be filled by Matt Crawcour. Matt as you know has a real passion for British elite sport and his knowledge of the system and contacts within NGBs make him ideal to fill the new role.

What it means however is that after more than 10 years, Matt is taking a step away from media relations. Although you will absolutely still see him around he will no longer be someone who will be formally responsible for this and for taking media -related calls, providing information and comment.

The communications team is now led by Russell Langley, who is also confirmed as Head of Communications. With me, Russ will be responsible for media relations, and we are looking to extend the whole team’s contact with you to ensure we have the best possible opportunity to provide you with information when you need it.

All the contact details for the press team are below for you. Both Matt and Russ start their new roles this week. Any questions give me a shout.
