Sports titles and journalists up for awards

Sports magazines, and journalists, feature prominently in the shortlist for the 2009 British Society of Magazine Editors Awards.

Pete Muir is nominated for Men’s Fitness and Morgan Rees for Men’s Health in the Men’s Magazines category, while in the Newspaper Magazines category, Tim Lewis, editor of Observer Sport Monthly, is shortlisted.

In the Special Interest and Current Affairs Magazines category, Tim Knight, of Angler’s Mail, Alex Mead, from Ace Tennis, Paul Morgan, of Rugby World, and Rob Spedding, Cycling Plus, are all listed among the contenders for the prize.

Ian Foster, at Match of the Day Magazine, is listed in the Youth Magazine category, while in the The Fiona MacPherson New Consumer Editor of the Year category, Alison Hamlett, at Triathlete’s World, has been named on the shortlist.

The awards will be presented at the London Hilton on November 10.
