SJA member Mark Alford leaves the Mail next month after 10 years working on the paper’s sports desk and Mail Online.
Alford is joining Sky Sports as head of digital editorial. His move comes as Sky Sports Digital Media undergoes a restructure which has seen most of the editorial staff relocated from Leeds to the Osterley HQ.
He will report to Dave Gibbs, Sky Sports’ director of digital.
Alford began as a trainee sub-editor at the Mail from the paper’s graduate trainee scheme, before working on the launch teams for Mail Online and London Lite.
He has been variously online sports editor, Daily Mail sports news editor, deputy sports editor and most recently consultant sports editor for Mail Online, which last year won the Laureus SJA Sports Website of the Year award.
