SJA POWER LUNCHES

Join the SJA for lunch in Fleet Street next month to get the inside track from two of the most influential figures in British sport, Rob Andrew and Bill Sweetenham.

Rob Andrew, pictured right, the RFU’s coaching supremo, will be our guest at the Old Bank of England pub on Monday January 29, just a week before the start of a crucial Six Nations tournament for England rugby (click here for venue details).

Bill Sweetenham, left, the British Swimming coach who rarely ever speaks to the media, has agreed to attend our lunch at the Olde Cheshire Cheese on Tuesday January 23, ahead of swimming’s 2007 World Championships in Melbourne (click here for venue details).

Please note the change from our previous lunch venues. Both lunches are 12.30 for 1pm start, and a two-course lunch, including a pint/drink, costs just £22 for SJA members, £26 for non-members.

But places are extremely limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Book now for either date – or better still, for both.

To book your place, contact Trevor Bond on 01277 651708, or send a cheque for the appropriate amount, with a covering note stating your name and which lunch or lunches you wish to attend, to Trevor at 244 Perry Street, Billericay, Essex, CM12 0QP.

We acknowledge that these dates may not be ideal for colleagues working on Sunday newspapers, but they are the guests’ best availability. We are sure tat with this calibre of guest, there will be plenty of thought-provoking and worthwhile material generated.

We are also hoping to stage more high-profile lunch dates in the New Year, but its is vital that these events receive full support from all SJA members and our colleagues.
