Future appoints Hufton to edit triathlon title

From Press Gazette
Specialist interest magazine publisher Future has hired Runner’s World staff writer Elizabeth Hufton as launch editor of its new triathlon magazine.

Triathlon Plus launches next week and will be based in Future’s offices in Bath alongside cycling titles Cycling Plus, Procycling, What Mountain Bike and Mountain Biking UK.

Hufton, a keen marathon runner who has moved into triathlon competing, has joined from Natmag to oversee the launch with a team of five people.

She told Press Gazette: “It is the fastest growing sport in the UK and the number of events and entries to events are increasing. There is an audience out there definitely.

“I hope it’s going to capture triathletes’ imagination and remind them why they love the sport.”

Future chief executive Simon Wear said: “We believe there is now a real appetite among both consumers and the industry for a magazine that provides high-end design and editorial content, and our track record in cycling gives us the ideal credentials to do this.”

Circulation of Future’s Cycling Plus magazine rose 11 per cent year on year in the latest set of ABCs, covering the second half of 2008, to 35,223 copies.
