Harris appointed to sports news job at Mail on Sunday

Nick Harris has been appointed as the chief sports news correspondent at the Mail on Sunday.

Nick Harris: Mail on Sunday appointment

Harris’s appointment follows Dan King’s move from the Mail group’s Sunday title to the News of the World in a similar role.

Harris had written for The Independent since 1996, as well as contibuting to the Sunday Times and other titles.

But for the past year Harris has also run his own, independent sports news website, Sporting Intelligence, where among its notable news coups was its exclusive, in-depth coverage of the John Higgins snooker scandal, which re-examined much of the News of the World‘s original sting which saw the world champion suspended.

  • Slightly further afield, Roger Ryan, the Hong Kong-based SJA member, has been hired as a senior sports sub-editor at the South China Morning Post. This follows his redundancy as sports editor at The Standard in Hong Kong, where Ryan had worked since 2001.
