World Curling offers Sochi trip for student journalists

The World Curling Federation is offering an exciting opportunity for one trainee journalist and one trainee photographer to accompany them to Sochi in Russia for a Olympic Winter Games test event in February.

It will be a fully paid trip for both individuals and will also put them in very good stead for the same opportunity at the Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

The competition is open to sportswriters and photographers aged 18 to 30 and in full-time education. The winners will work on coverage of the world junior curling championships, to be staged at the venue to be used for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Trainee journalists will get to interview athletes and report on the competition, while photographers will be tasked with capturing all of the action on the ice and behind the scenes.

Your work will be published not only on the WCF event website and social media but may also feature on your own Member Association’s website and social media (where available).

Trainee journalists and photographers will also be given the opportunity to experience webcast broadcasts during the Championships.

This unique opportunity will give two students the chance to develop journalistic or photography skills in a practical setting, providing you with vital knowledge and experience which will help you progress prospective careers within the media industry.
