The University of Central Lancashire is hosting its inaugural Sports Journalism Convention in Preston on October 22.
The organisers say that the event will examine “the state of sports journalism in the UK through presentations and networking opportunities”, and there is an open invitation for anyone with an interest in journalism to attend.
Pete Stevenson (Sky Sports News) will act as MC for the convention, which will include a keynote speech from Patrick Barclay (The Times), as well as presentations from Charlie Lambert (head of sports journalism at UCLan) and Mayur Bhanji (BBC Sport).
“Sport plays such an influential part in so many aspects of life that the journalism of sport is particularly important,” Charlie Lambert said.
“The convention will give people with an interest in sports journalism the chance to discuss latest trends in the business. We are also looking forward to bringing together young journalists and their more experienced colleagues, to exchange ideas and expand their contacts.”
Guests are welcome from 5.30pm at Foster Building on the Preston Campus.
