SJA Members: Cast your vote for Britain’s greatest sportsman and woman over the past 71 years

We’ve set you a virtually impossible task but being knowledgeable, opinionated and honest are all part of a sports journalist’s DNA.

Every member of the SJA can vote to decide who you think ranks as Britain’s greatest sportsman and woman over the past 71 years – the life of our British Sports Awards.

The winners will be announced as part of our virtual SJA Sports Awards on December 10. But before then we need you to cast your votes. The competition for the ultimate crowns is stunning.

You can choose whoever you want. They don’t have to be previous winners of  SJA crowns.

But your challenge is to decide in the men’s category between the likes of  Steve Redgrave, George Best, Andy Murray, Nick Faldo, Ian Botham and Lennox Lewis. And that’s just for starters.

In the women’s section track and field athletes dominate the contenders but alongside the likes of Kelly Holmes, Sally Gunnell, Denise Lewis, Jess-Ennis-Hill and Mary Peters you can add Wimbledon ladies champion Virginia Wade.

Voting has now closed.
