Palmer odds-on to retain Betting Writer crown

Sky Bet, sponsor of the SJA’s British Sports Journalism Awards being staged in London on March 8, has made Racing Post columnist Steve Palmer 10/11 favourite to retain his crown as the Sports Betting Writer of the Year.

Palmer was the inaugural winner of the Sky Bet-sponsored award 12 months ago.

The Racing Post is also represented in this category by Kevin Pullein, who is 5/1 to scoop the award.

The Daily Mirror makes up the other half of the field, with Derek McGovern Sky Bet’s 5/2 second favourite to take home the gong and 3pm Betting Boys Kevin Price and John Curle available at 5/1.

Sky Bet’s PR Director Dale Tempest said: “There are some brilliant sports betting writers around and as sponsors we’re delighted once again to be associated with this award. Picking winners is tough enough but these guys have used their wit, intelligence and writing talent to entertain their readers.”
