Young journalists’ networking drinks, May 26

Following a successful first event, the second Young Sports Journalists’ networking social event will take place on Tuesday May 26 at Patch Bar near St Paul’s, not far from Fleet Street, the traditional heartland of our business and not far from where the SJA was founded nearly 70 years ago.

SJA LOGOAs with the SJA’s “broad church” definition, for the purposes of this event all sports journalists are welcome – whether reporters or editors, photographers or broadcasters, working in print, online, in newspaper or magazines, on TV or radio. Journalism students are also welcome. And the definition of “young”? We leave it for you to decide.

The first event in Covent Garden last month enjoyed a good turnout, with a mix of sports journalists in their first few years of working and those about to embark on a career in the industry.

As well as making new connections, the event produced some interesting discussions on innovations and unique angles to explore in sports journalism.

The second summer event will start from 6pm and will be in a reserved area of the bar.

Attendees will have to buy their own drinks but it will be Happy Hour.
Patch Bar is at 50-60 Carter Lane, London, EC4V 5EA
