New date and new venue for SJA Journalism Awards

Lancaster London exteriorThe 2015 SJA British Sports Journalism Awards dinner, sponsored by BT Sport, will be staged at the prestigious Lancaster Hotel, overlooking Hyde Park in central London, on February 22 next year.

It’s a new venue and new date for the awards presentations which recognise the best in sports photography, broadcasting and journalism, in print and online. But thanks to the generous sponsorship of BT Sport and the ticket prices remain unchanged.

The gala event includes an exhibition of the leading photography entries, a drinks reception, and a three-course dinner with wine. It is attended by hundreds of leading figures from sport, the media and politics. Tickets are £120 (plus VAT). SJA members can buy their ticket for half that price – £60 (plus VAT) – and they can also purchase one additional guest ticket for £90 (plus VAT).

“With the innovations and new categories introduced last year and the growing popularity of the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards, our committee agreed that we needed to move to a larger venue,” Steven Downes, the SJA Secretary, said.

“We are always mindful of offering value and benefits for our members, and we are very grateful to BT Sport for their continued support which enables us to do that as we move to one of London’s best-known venues.”

The Lancaster is adjacent to Lancaster Gate Tube station and is a short distance from Paddington mainline.

The presentation dinner has been brought forward to a February date, and that means that the entry period will also be slightly different this year.

The British Sports Journalism Awards will judge work published or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2015.

Entry forms will be made available in October, with an entry closing date for all categories of January 13, 2016. More details will be released in the autumn.
