Athletics Writers elect new chairman

Athletics Weekly editor Jason Henderson has been elected as the new chairman of the British Athletics Writers’ Association.

Henderson was elected without opposition at the BAWA annual meeting held at Crystal Palace stadium on August 3, just before the IAAF London Grand Prix. He takes over the reins from Richard Lewis, whose two-year term came to an end this summer.

The other sitting members of the BAWA committee were all re-elected for another two years. They are:
Secretary: Doug Gillon
Treasurer: Chris Turner
BAWA News: Matthew Brown

The meeting also expressed its thanks to Tom Knight, who stood down after a long stint as organiser of the BAWA’s highly-regarded annual dinner.

This year’s dinner will be staged on Saturday October 27, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, 7.15pm for 7.45pm, until 3am

Member and partner personal rate (maximum two tickets): £55 each; members’ other tickets: £65 each.

Non-members/Corporate: £95 each (table of 10 or more – tickets £90 each).

Details of where to send your cheques and how to vote in the BAWA athlete of the year poll will follow shortly.
