Dunn takes over as Sun sports editor

Mike Dunn, the long-time sports editor at the country’s biggest selling Sunday newspaper, The News of the World, is to take over as sports editor at Wapping’s daily red-top, The Sun.

Dunn succeeds Steve Waring, sports editor of The Sun for the past seven years, who is being promoted to publishing director at the newspaper.

There have been no further announcements on any other sports desk staffing changes at the two News International titles, although it is understood that neither appointment is connected to the current round of redundancies going on at Wapping.

The Sun and the Sunday Times are to shed 20 jobs each, while The Times is to lose 30 posts, from a total of around 100 journalist positions expected to go in a process aimed at making £30 million-worth of savings.
