Discounted Press Club fees for SJA


The London Press Club has agreed to offer SJA members a special group membership rate of £35, instead of the ordinary rate of £50.

You need to be quick to take advantage of this special offer, as the LPC’s prices are going up on October 1.

SJA members can also become LPC Life Members for £500 if you join now (£600 after October 1).

The London Press Club, founded in 1882 and based at the St Bride Institute, off Fleet Street. The Club organises regular educational and social events. In addition, it produces a colour magazine and holds an annual awards lunch.

The next LPC monthly meeting is on September 7 at Johnson Bar in the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, 145 Fleet Street (020 7353 6170) from 6.30pm, as their website says, “so do come along and have a glass or two (we have two rooms to ourselves – pay bar). All members and their guests welcome.”

The September meeting will feature a signing by LPC member, Tom Aitken of his two books, Water Lane (a children’s novel, special price £3 HB/£1 PB) and Nowhere to Hide (an illustrated book about Monte Cassino in the Second World War, special price £5).

Membership of the London Press Club also gives a huge discount on membership of the Commonwealth Club of the Royal Commonwealth Society – LPC members can join the RCS for £100 a year instead of £250 plus a £100 joining fee, an immediate saving of £250. In addition, this entitles members to discounts on the Citadines hotel next door, Holmes Place health clubs and other benefits. And of course the RCS itself has a late bar, restaurant, conference facilities, workstations, regular events and parties etc and membership of the RCS gives you access to 40 Commonwealth Clubs worldwide.
