The Telegraph group today announced a further round of appointments and changes on its newspaper and digital sports desks.
Mark Skipworth, Executive Editor, Sport, said: “I am delighted to be promoting such a range of talent to these respective posts as the Telegraph Sports team continues to grow its first class sports coverage.”
The changes are headed by Peter Mitchell being appointed as sports editor of the Sunday Telegraph. Mitchell was previously deputy sports editor under Jon Ryan who left the company in February to take a senior role at the British Horseracing Authority.
Jim Bruce-Ball is promoted to deputy sports editor on the Sunday, from football editor.
Martin Chilton, the former sports editor at the Evening Standard, is appointed deputy sports editor (planning) on the Daily Telegraph, working with his former London evening paper colleague, David Bond, who was named sports editor on the daily paper three months ago. Also on the Daily, Brian Moore, the former England rugby player, will write a columns on Thursdays as well as Mondays.
The Telegraph is launching a blog which will be led by Andrew Baker on Telegraph.co.uk. It will be an irreverent look at the day’s sporting news.
Lewine Mair is to expand her remit and work for both the Daily and Sunday Telegraph covering golf events, replacing Jim Mossop, who had previously covered golf for the Sunday paper.
