Sunday Mirror hires Matt Law on football beat
Matt Law has joined the Sunday Mirror as chief football writer, after six years on the Daily Express.
Law replaces Paul Smith, who was head-hunted by The Sun when the daily moved to a seven-day operation.
Law, 33, started his journalistic career covering non-League Tamworth for the Tamworth Herald. After just six months he joined the Derby Evening Telegraph, working his way up from covering Burton Albion to becoming assistant Derby County reporter.
After five years at Derby, Law took a year off to travel. On his return he joined the League Paper and within six months was taken on by the Express, who have recently announced wide-ranging job cuts.
