Sportsbeat recruits two ahead of London Olympics

National press agency Sportsbeat has strengthened its news desk ahead of the London 2012 Olympics with two appointments.

Ric Sumner joins as senior news editor, where he’ll work alongside David Jordan, and report to executive editor David Parsons and deputy editor Stephen Bond.

Sumner was previously the editor of the Oxford Journal and group editor of the Oxfordshire Guardian series and the Basingstoke Observer.

Paul Smith also joins Sportsbeat’s backbench from the Grimsby Telegraph, where he was deputy sports editor.
