Tickets are on sale now for one of the gala events in the Sports Journalists’ Association’s calendar, the 2015 British Sports Awards, sponsored by The National Lottery.

This year’s awards lunch is being staged at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden on Thursday, December 17, and we’re anticipating another full house including some of the biggest names from sport and the media, and so we advise members to book their places early for a celebration of all that is best in British sport.

The lunch is compered by Jim Rosenthal and this year will be presided over by Patrick Collins, the SJA’s new President.

In 2014, the SJA presented a range of trophies at the occasion, including International Newcomer of the Year to England cricketer Moeen Ali, Sportswoman of the Year to runner Jo Pavey, Team of the Year to the World Cup-winning England women’s rugby team, and Sportsman of the Year to Open golf winner Rory McIlroy.

Once again, and thanks to the generous sponsorship from The National Lottery and the SJA’s other partners, including BT Sport, Ladbrokes and Laureus, in 2015 we have been able to hold down prices on tickets for SJA members and their guests, making attendance at this gala event a major benefit of membership.

An SJA member can buy their ticket for £72 (including VAT) – effectively, half price. Members are also able to buy a guest ticket also at a discounted rate, as the organisers encourage them to bring their partners, friends or colleagues to this glittering event.

There is also a hefty discount for those who book a table, making the British Sports Awards the ideal place for your sports desk’s Christmas get-together.
