All welcome at our annual Golf Day on Sep 14

Muswell Hill GC

Whether you’re a hack or a hacker, you’ll be very welcome to join the SJA’s golfers for a relaxing day’s golf, lunch and socialising at our Autumn Golf Day, being staged on Monday, September 14 at Muswell Hill Golf Club.

The cost of the day’s golf, preceded by coffee and bacon rolls and followed by a two-course lunch, is £60 for SJA members (full or associate members), or £65 for guests. The prices represent a hefty discount on society rates at a wonderful course so close to central London, and just off the North Circular.

If you are not a member of the SJA, but play a little golf and are interested in meeting us, this is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the Association.

And for long-standing members, the day represents a terrific opportunity to network with old friends and new colleagues. Book yourself a place, and bring along a friend.

Don’t worry too much about your standard of golf  – with golf among the sports at the Rio Olympics, the SJA’s golfers will happily demonstrate that taking part is far more important than winning.

There will be prizes – for longest drive, nearest the pin, worst taste in golfing clothes, that sort of thing. Plus also at stake is the annual contest for the SJA’s champion golfer, the Phil Sheldon Trophy, named in honour of a terrific sports photographer and much-respected long-term member of the Association.

Muswell Hill is a Par 71 (men) and Par 73 (women) parkland course. Off the back tees it is sufficiently challenging to test the very best golfer, but it can also offer a more forgiving experience to the less gifted majority. It has earned its reputation for being beautifully maintained.

To book your place, as a member, a guest or as a lunch attendee, please email Nick Cherrie at nick.cherrie@sundaymirror.co.uk, writing “SJA Golf Day” in the subject field.

As well as your name and SJA membership number, please provide details of any special dietary requirements, and your golf handicap (if you don’t have one, just state so).

If you book and do not show, you will be expected to pay.
