Another stalwart of sports journalism has gone.
Bill Martin, one-time the chief sports correspondent for the Press Association who specialised in boxing and tennis, has died aged 90 in a Surrey nursing home.
Bill was a former chairman of the Boxing Writers’ Club and will be well remembered by colleagues for his many years in the Wimbledon press box. He was a truly professional operator.
His funeral will be at 11am at Leatherhead Crematorium on Monday 22 December.
