Shooting Times: news editor

Shooting Times, Britain’s leading weekly shooting and field sports title, is looking for a news editor to join its busy editorial team.

The successful candidate will have ability to spot original stories, build a strong network of contacts and stringers, work hard under pressure and run a busy news desk, providing regular content for the magazine, news updates for the Shooting Times website and in-depth feature articles.

The role also includes production of content such as short filmed interviews, cross-platform features, and audio/video reports for use both online and within our tablet edition.

An understanding of the countryside and its people, rural subjects and politics is essential and knowledge of shooting advantageous.

The successful candidate will be full of ideas, well organised and will have excellent digital content skills, as well as the ability to write high-quality, accurate news and features to tight deadlines.

Experience in a similar editorial role is essential.
